CVW-5 Training

CVW-5 accepts DCS players of all skill levels that are looking for a realistic experience.CVW-5 has a multi-tiered training program. All members begin with Primary Flight Training. Primary Flight Training lasts 4 weeks and is conducted in the free T-45 Goshawk mod. This training covers topics that are universal to all aircraft operations in CVW-5.

This means that newer virtual pilots develop necessary skills for future success and experienced virtual pilots become familiar with CVW-5’s procedures. Moreover, this time serves as an evaluation period for both the group and the member to decide if CVW-5 is a good fit. Members are required to successfully qualify in the subjects of initial training.

Below you will see a list of training CVW-5 offers

Primary flight training

All members attend primary flight training to become initially qualified as members prior to being assigned to an operational squadron. This training is administered across the wing through the work of instructor pilots (IPs) from all of the squadrons in the wing.

Qualification flight training

Qualification training consists of demonstrating the ability to employ the aircraft systems and to fight the aircraft in a realistic manner.

Perishable Skills Training

Members are required to qualify periodically on certain perishable skills to maintain currency.

Advanced Training

CVW-5 maintains standardized qualification training that members are encouraged to participate in
